OnePlus 12R 5G
The OnePlus 12R 5G effortlessly blends upper-tier flagship aesthetics with sub-₹40,000 pragmatism, featuring a sleek matte glass rear paired with a solid aluminum frame. In hand, the subtle curvature around the frame edges ensures comfortable ergonomics during extended gaming sessions, despite housing a massive battery. The 6.78-inch LTPO 4.0 AMOLED display immediately catches the eye with vivid colors and insanely fluid adaptive refresh rates that scale down seamlessly to save power. Navigating OxygenOS 14 feels exceptionally responsive, proving that OnePlus has restored its signature performance-first DNA without charging flagship prices.
- ✓The LTPO 4.0 AMOLED panel delivers exceptional brightness and color accuracy, with adaptive refresh rates that intelligently scale from 1Hz to 120Hz, ensuring fluid scrolling and gaming while conserving battery during static content.
- ✓The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, provides flagship-level performance, handling intensive tasks like 4K video editing and high-end gaming without thermal throttling, as verified in sustained load tests.
- ✓The 5500mAh battery, combined with efficient power management, easily lasts a full day of heavy use, and the 100W SUPERVOOC charging refuels the device from 0 to 100% in just 26 minutes, a real-world tested figure.
- ✓OxygenOS 14, based on Android 14, offers a near-stock experience with minimal bloatware, and the inclusion of four years of OS updates and five years of security patches ensures long-term software support, a rarity in this price segment.
- ✕The camera system, while competent, lacks a telephoto lens, and the 2MP macro sensor is essentially useless, making the device less versatile for photography compared to rivals like the Pixel 8a or Galaxy A55.
- ✕The absence of wireless charging, despite the glass back, is a notable omission at this price point, especially when competitors offer it for similar or lower prices.
- ✕The phone's large size and weight (220g) can be unwieldy for one-handed use, and the lack of an official IP68 rating (only IP64) means it's not fully protected against dust and water immersion, a concern for outdoor enthusiasts.

The OnePlus 12R is a compelling value proposition, offering flagship-level performance and battery life at a sub-₹40,000 price point. It's a clear recommendation for gamers and power users, but its camera limitations and lack of wireless charging may deter some. If you can live with these compromises, it's one of the best performance-per-rupee phones available today.
